Around 5 pm my older brother Adam, my mom, Bridget the dog, and I made it to my parents lake cabin. It was really exciting to see since they redid the inside. There were walls knocked out in the kitchen so it is very open with the dinning room and sun room. It will be really nice when all the furniture comes back tomorrow and this summer when the house is full of people.
However, this morning I was wondering if were ever going to leave WashMO. We were really in no hurry but I am one who likes to leave at the determined time. This morning though things worked out nicely. I woke up and took Bridget for a jog around the neighborhood and the city park. It was not quite the run I wanted though because I had to walk when I realized I was dragging the dog. She is more of a sprinter than a distance runner. Hopefully we will fix that over the next few weeks. When I got back home my mom was planting flowers in the yard so I spent some time with Bridget and Gladys (the cat) on the front porch. I probably should have gone and helped her but I really didn't want to get my running shoes all muddy. Lame excuse because I really like planting flowers but that's what I did.
After that I showered, packed up my things, and loaded the car. The 10am leaving time came and went. Then 11am came and went. I was trying to be patient so I unpacked my computer and checked my email. That was when I saw that Em emailed me to get on Facebook to chat. I was so excited when I logged on and she was on. Of course it was 11 am in MO but 5pm in London. She was getting ready to go out and my day was just starting. It was nice to talk with her even for just a little bit. She got some rest last night after being up for days, literally, and I think will find London more enjoyable once she gets back to a normal sleeping routine. One thing I hope she doesn't do while she is over there is hang out with only Mizzou people. I feel like you need to branch out when you are in situations like that. If you don't you miss out on the culture and miss meeting the people. No matter what though I think she will look back and be happy she studied abroad.
We were leaving so I ended our conversation and finally we left for the lake. The drive is about 3.5 hrs which isn't too bad. I ended up watching the first season of the Nanny DVD on my computer which made the trip go by really fast. Once at the lake we went to the dock and it was beautiful!! The sun was out and there was a nice breeze. It wasn't warm enough to layout but I think that is because of how late it was but tomorrow I am pumped to uncover the boat and take it out. I spent my time reading a book on the swing. However, I didn't get as far as I had hoped. I am trying to get a little head start on the Rwanda books I checked out. The book I am on now is various excerpts from books, articles, and people about the history of the Rwanda Genocide. It isn't really a happy read when they talk about 800,000 people being killed in the first 100 days. It makes me a bit nervous about what the class will be like and what the actually trip will be like. I know that it isn't a cheery subject but I hope the professor finds the stories of hope, courage, and rebuilding to teach us about too.
Anyway time for dinner and Bachelorette watching on abc.com since I missed it on Monday.
