This is my first post...I am actually blogging, I think. I really don't know what I am going to write about but I thought I could at least get this thing set up.  I was inspired to do this by my sister and some of my friends who blog.  I don't know if they really have a theme to their pages except to write about what is on their mind.  So I figured I could do the same thing.

In just over a month I am going to start traveling.  First I am going to make a trip from St. Louis to London where my little sister Emily is studying abroad.  Yesterday morning my mom and I took her to the airport to catch her plane.  It was exciting but a little bitter sweet.  She is leaving for an amazing opportunity and will have a lot of fun.  For some in my family I think there is a bit of um not regret or jealousy in a good way.  They see her going to new far off places and wish they would have taken the chance to do it when they could have.

Anyway after going to London for about a week I will be leaving from London to fly on to Kigali, Rwanda where I will be participating in a study abroad program.  I don't know what to expect or what exactly I will see but know it will be an eye opening experience.  Saturday before I left Columbia I went to the public library (one of my favorite places, I don't know why) and checked out several books on Rwanda.  The woman checking me out gave me an interesting look when I went to check them out because they were on genocide, killing, one was titled I am going to kill your family.  I hope I don't end up depressed with no hope when I return.

So for anyone reading this I will be taking my computer on my travels and let you know what I am doing and where I will be.

My name is Meg and I am currently a Geriatrics and Palliative Care Fellow at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.  I started this blog several years ago as a way to remember and talk about what I experienced while studying abroad in Rwanda during the summer of 2009.

The blog has now continued and still serves as a way to let my friends and family know what I have been up to and a way for me to open up.
