Memorial Day weekends seem to always be a roll of the dice. You never know what kind of weather you will get. This weekend weather was great until mid afternoon when the storms rolled in. We spent the morning out of the boat with the wakeboard and skis. Ad was on the wakeboard for awhile until the water got rough. I was going to wakeboard but skied instead because of the waves. By the time I got in the water we were passing the ski course up the lake. I was a bit disappointed in myself when I was unable to successfully complete the course.
It is one of those things where the boat drives down the middle and there are bobber floating to the left and right. The skier behind the boat is suppose to weave back and forth one to the other. That is what I couldn't do. I am not sure what happened. On the first pass through I was able to make a right one and then a left one so that makes 2 out of 4. However, after that it went down hill from there. I wasn't even able to make a cut back over the boats wake. I am not sure why, maybe there were waves, the boat was too fast, the boat was too slow, I was tired, I am out of shape, who knows. If anything it has made me more determined to try it again until I get it. Tomorrow I will let you know how the repeat goes.
On the dock it was a bit nerve racking when the storm rolled in. I have no problem with rain, it is when there are the loud cracks of thunder and lightening that I get a jumpy. I feel like a child and that as an adult a little storm shouldn't be a big deal. Don't get me wrong I don't hide in the closet or anything. I actually like when it rains on the lake. It is cool in the way you can see the storm move down the lake. It is like when you are wearing glasses and they steam up. The whitish mist/fog of rain just keeps getting closer and closer until it is finally upon you with the rain pelting the metal roof. It sounds much louder than it normally would but you safe under the dock. (I have been on the dock when it has hailed and that is deafening.) I thought it would let up today but it didn't so we made the soggy trip back up to the house. I spent the rest of the afternoon in the gazebo reading my book and hanging out with the family. Dinner wasn't much of anything tonight but at least it wasn't fast food. I had goldfish and applesauce. The rest of the fam had some red meat that was slow cooked on the grill. I don't know what it is but I have to be in the right mood for red meat. I don't really like the taste of it and the texture bugs me. My family can't really get that which leads to the comments about meegan the vegan. I don't really care though because it is funny. I have other food options and am in no way close to starving. Oh we had pancakes this morning. I think the only thing besides grilling that my dad knows how to cook.
